On a cold Sunday afternoon two sides met on the ballfield, fighting for their rightful place as King of Harlem. Both sides hitting bombs, carving hitters and gunning down runners, this Sunday will forever be known as the Battle of Harlem.

In Game 1 the HAs defeated the Shaskys 11 – 1.

The HAs overpowered the Shaskys with their brute strength and keen eye at the plate.
Together the HAs were able to draw 8 walks and get 7 big hits to bring home those runs.
Carlos Cruz found himself leading the charge and went 1 for 2 with 2 walks and a single that brought in 2 runs.
Chris Garcia continues his reign of terror going 2 for 3 with a HA Bomb to centerfield, bringing in 3 runs.
Wesley Waite returns to the lineup and gets the job done going 2 for 3 with a single and a double.
Carving up the hitters and leaving them fooled was Jayden Vasquez.
Jayden went 5 strong innings allowing only 1 run with 6 strikeouts. No Mercy as he did not walk a single batter.
To deal the final blow was Joshua Pacheco in the 6th inning.
Mercy the Shaskys pleaded, on to round 2.

In Game 2 the HAs defeated the Shaskys 5 – 2.

The HAs put the Dark Knight on the mound Matt Doncell and he slaughtered the Shaksys lineup.
Throwing the entire game Doncell put away 12 batters, sparing only 5 of them to walk and allowed 2 hits.
On the flip side the HAs lineup was kept at ease after having their fill in game 1 except for one.
Joshua Pacheco came up to the plate with damage on his mind and damage he dealt.
Legend has it the ball has yet to fall, as Pacheco blasted a 3 run HA BOMB over right field.
Honorario Pena and Carlos Cruz both joined in on the action, getting on base multiple times and causing havoc.
In all the Lineup managed to put 5 runs with 7 hits and 6 stolen bases.
After sweeping up what remained from the Battle of Harlem the HAs stand alone as King of Harlem.

The Lineup must have read my last article as they sure did show up this week against the Reigining Fall Champion, Warriors.
Sweeping the series against the Warriors the Has were firing on all Cylinders.

Game 1 , the Has defeated the Warriors 13 – 0 in 5 innings.
The lineup was literally on fire as they racked up 18 hits in 5 innings and 4 of those being extra base hits.
Chris Garcia leading the way going 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs. It seems that there is no team that could extinguish Garcia’s hot bat.
Edmanuel Valentin continues his hot streak at the plate as he went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a Ha Bomb to Left Center that left the Warriors stunned.
Coach Mario Padron also joined the hit parade going 3 for 4 with an extra base hit.
The Has lineup must have been seeing a beach ball up there at the plate. A complete 180 from last week.
Matthew Leonte started on the mound game 1. He must have been hungry for his first win as he held the Warriors to only two hits through 4 innings.
Jayden came in for relief and 1,2,3 the umpire called the game. Job Well Done.

Game 2, the Has defeated the Warriors 9-8.
The lineup did not take their foot off the pedal as they accumulated 12 hits including 2 Ha Bombs.
Honorio Peña in the first inning made a statement going Yard to centerfield for a 3-run Ha Bomb. Opa Opa!!
Jayden Vasquez started Game 2 after closing game 1 and had 2 strikeouts.
The Warrior’s bats woke up though as they managed to put up 4 runs of their own in the first two innings, 3 were earned.
As the Has were down in the 6th inning, coach Padron stepped up when the team needed him most.
Mario Padron served up a 2-run Ha Bomb to deep center that put the Has up and Michael German tripled in a run to put the icing on the cake.
Matt Doncell came in to relief during the 3rd and threw 5 innings with 8ks allowing 4 runs, 2 earned. Game Set!

30 Hits on the day, outscoring our opponents 22-8, that’s winning baseball, that’s Ha Baseball.

The Has look to continue their success as next week they face off against the Harlem Shaskys.

The Has Drop 2 Against The Lions

Posted by 18+ Harlem Has at Oct 10, 2023 1:32PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

This Sunday it was a battle amongst Giants, as the 1st place Has squared off against the 2nd place Lions.

Game 1 the Lions defeated the Has with a score of 2-5.
If you look at the box score the stats are nearly identical but the Lions got on top early and never looked back.
Both Lineups were kept in check as both teams were only able to get 5 hits a piece.
For the Ha’s the big hits came from Chris Garcia who smashed an RBI-triple in the first inning and Michael German with an RBI-single in the third inning.
The Lions did all their damage in the second inning as they put on a 5 run inning with a couple of walks and timely hitting.
Doncell threw 6 innings only allowing 5 hits with 7 strikeouts and 4 walks.
Jose Vasquez came in after and threw a scoreless 7th with 2 strikeouts, really solidifying his role as the closer.
One bad inning spoiled it for the Has.

Game 2 the Lions defeated the Has with a score of 1-4.
The Ha’s lineup was overpowered by the Lion’s pitching staff, only putting up one run on the board.
Leonte made his second start on the mound going 5 innings, allowing 3 runs 7 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.
Carlos Cruz aka Los, pitched in the 6th innings allowing an unearned run with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks. Reliable as always.
Although the hitting was atrocious for the Has there was something to celebrate or someone.
Making his season debut, Edmanuel Valentin went 2-3 with an RBI-Triple and single. Glad to have him back as we make our playoff push.

With the series tied between the Has and Lions 2-2, the next one will be crucial for both clubs.
If all goes well the next time they will face off will be in the playoffs.
It’s gonna be an all out war you don’t want to miss!

The Has Win With Walk-Off HBP In The Ninth

Posted by 18+ Harlem Has at Oct 4, 2023 5:43PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Harlem Has squared off against the Central Park Champion, Brooklyn Dukes in a 9 inning nail bitter and came out on top 6-5.

Making his fall debut on the mound, Matthew Leonte threw 3 innings not allowing any runs along with 4 strikeouts and a HBP for the Ha’s.

The offense took the lead in the 3rd inning with Carlos Cruz scoring off a single for the first run of the game. Followed by a double down the left field line by Michael German to bring in Chris Garcia, Ha’s up 2. (2-0)

Leonte passes the baton to Jayden Vasquez in the fourth who ran into a bit of trouble. After four hit batters the Dukes put up 2 runs in his 2 innings of work to tie the ball game. (2-2)

Top of the 6th and here comes Matt Doncell to the bump. Doncell had a strong outing throwing 3 2/3 innings with 6ks, but the Dukes were relentless.

In the 7th inning the Dukes took the lead with a base hit to right field to bring home a run. (2-3)

The Has answer right back in the 8th with Chris Garcia leading off with a single followed by Michael German and Mario Padron with singles of their own.
The Dukes wanted a bit of pay back as they hit the next two batters HP and Pacheco to bring home another run.
Now 7 batters have been hit in the game so far, Ouch. (4-3)

Top of the 9th and the Dukes were down to their last 3 batters. First batter smashes a double in the Gap and then swipes third base. Next pitch, hot shot to third and Garcia scoops the ball and fires a rocket to home plate gunning down the runner, but the Dukes weren’t done. A bit of control issues led to a walk and 2 more hit batters which resulted in 2 more runs. Jose Vasquez come in to stop the bleeding as he throws 1 pitch to get out of the inning. (4-5)

Bottom of the 9th, Carlos Cruz smashes a line drive down the left field line for a single and then swipes the bag next pitch, tying run at 2nd base. Wesly Waite flys out to right moving Cruz to 3rd base. Garcia walks and German hits a ground ball to 3rd base but hustles down the line to prevent the double play. The pressure must have been too much for the Duke’s pitcher as he intentionally walks Mario Padron to get to Joey Randazzo bases loaded. After 8 pitches Joey works a walk that brings home the tying run and next batter was Honario Pena. 1st pitch of the at-bat right into his shoulder and the rest is history. (6-5)

Coach Padron always says “It’s a baseball not a monster” but the ball this game might as well have been a monster, hurting 10 batters. Good thing we got Ice.

The Ha’s square off against the Lions next.
